Introduction

 

Forum is a function that is used in order to follow and/or participate in discussions around various topics. The forum can be reached by choosing Forum under Coordination & Collaboration . The principle is that a discussion (answers) can be conducted in various subject areas (topics). The user can chose to subscribe on a whole topic or a chosen part of the discussion. For every forum there are a number of rights regarding who can do what or not.

 

Topics

  1. Create topic

    To create a new topic, choose Start a new discussion. You then get a new window where Subject and Message should be entered and Link can be attached by clicking on the button Choose and choose the desired link in the window that opens. Click on the button Attach link to add the link. If you want to link an url-address, you just copy and paste the address into the field Link, and click on the button Add. You can also choose to Subscribe on new replies by clicking the corresponding box. New answers will then automatically be sent to the one who created the topic.

  2. Show topic

    The content of a topic is shown by clicking the headline of the topic in the list of current topics. The list is shown in your main window for the forum.

    When you click on the headline for the chosen topic, a new window will open containing details about the topic such as subject, author, starttime and message. You can also add a subscription of coming answers in the topic by clicking the corresponding box.

    You can also answer a topic by clicking Reply to. Whoever has the rights to edit the topic, can do so by clicking the Edit-button.

  3. Edit topic

    Editing a topic is done by clicking the headline of the topic in the list of current topics, and then clicking the Edit-button (proper rights needed) in the window that opens.

    Now you can edit details about the topic such as Subject and Message, and also order subscription on new replies.

    When you have finished editing, press Update to finish.

  4. Delete topic

    Deleting a topic is done by clicking the headline of the topic in the list of current topics, and then clicking the Edit-button (proper rights needed) in the window that opens.

    Now you can delete the topic by pressing Delete. Note! The topic AND all answers for the topic will be deleted permanently.

  5. Reply to topic

    Editing a topic is done by clicking the headline of the topic in the list of current topics, and then clicking the Reply to-button in the window that opens.

    A new window is opened where you can fill in Subject and Message and Link can be attached by clicking on the button Choose and choose the desired link in the window that opens. Click on the button Attach link to add the link. You can also choose whether or not you want to Subscribe on new replies for the topic by clicking the corresponding box. New answers to your topic will then automatically be sent to you by email.

  6. Navigation

    To be able to navigate through the various topics in the forum, the desired topic is chosen by clicking the corresponding in the list of current topics. The topic is then expanded and all answers are made visible. By clicking , the topic is closed so that the answers are no longer visible, only the topic is shown.

  7. Subscribe on topic via email

    Subscription to a new topic is done by following Create topic in item 1 above, and then checking the box Subscribe on new replies.

    Subscription to an existing topic is done by following Show topic in item 2 above, and then checking the box Subscribe on new replies.

    Another way to start a subscription of an already existing topic is to click on the symbol in the end of the line for the corresponding topic in the main window, and accept the question about subscription.

    A subscription of a topic is shown with the symbol in the end of the line for the corresponding topic in the main window. You can also terminate a subscription in the same way, by just clicking the symbol .

     

Answers

  1. Create answer

    A new answer is created by clicking the headline of the topic or answer in the main window for the forum. Then click on Reply to in the window that opens.

    You then get a new window where Subject and Message should be entered and Link can be attached by clicking on the button Choose and choose the desired link in the window that opens. Click on the button Attach link to add the link. You can also choose to Subscribe on new replies by clicking the corresponding box. New answers will then automatically be sent to the one who created the topic.

  2. Show answer

    The content of an answer is shown by clicking the headline of the answer in the list of current topics. The list is shown in your main window for the forum.

    When you click on the headline for the chosen answer, a new window will open containing details about the answer such as subject, author, starttime and message. You can also add a subscription of coming answers in the topic by clicking the corresponding box.

  6. Marking of new answers

    For every user information is stored about which topics and answers that has been shown to the user.

    Answers that hasn't yet been shown to the user is marked with bold style over the name on the answering user and the subject, and already shown topics are marked with plain style over the name and the subject.

    Topics where there are answers that hasn't yet been shown to the user is marked with bold style over the subject, and topics where all answers has been shown are marked with plain style over the subject.

  7. Navigation

  8. Subscribe to new answers via email

Rights

The rights for the forum are gathered in the table below. They are divided in three categories; moderator, creator and all users. The moderator is the one that has all the rights in the forum, and is the same person as the Administrator (see roles). The creator is the one who created a topic or a contribution. All users are as the name implies everyone who have access to the forum.
